CT guided dental implant planning and surgery is far superior to traditional two-dimensional imaging and “freehand” placement of dental implants. This results in a less invasive surgical procedure, awareness of anatomical challenges ahead of time, increased precision of implant placement, reduced surgical time, and enhanced patient recovery.

K.K.Uthaman Dental Care and Implant Centre is the only dental centre with an in-house CT scanner with a special programme for dental implants and 3D reconstruction. With this facility implants can be placed in a very precise manner at the required location. The size and length of the implants can be decided accurately prior to the procedure. Requirement for bone addition can also be assessed.

Our centre is equipped with a Siemens Somatom Emotion multislice CT scanner, which is currently one of the world’s most popular scanners. This machine can complete a scan for dental implant planning in a matter of seconds (around 15 seconds). The overall tunnel length of the scanner is quite small (69cm), and its open, contoured design and large patient port essentially eliminates problems like claustrophobia, thus making the entire scanning procedure very simple and comfortable.
